Agriculture biological diversity or agrobiodiversity has tremendous potential to simultaneously address three of the most important global challenges facing humankind in this region and worldwide namely food security, climate change and sustainable agriculture. It is necessary to raise awareness especially among the policy makers and decision makers on the importance of agrobiodiversity. It is of utmost importance to identify solutions that would contribute to development of new knowledge and relevant technologies. The 2nd Regional Conference on Agrobiodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Utilization (RAC2) focusing on the importance of agrobiodiversity in the digital and transformation era, mitigating climate change and alleviating poverty nationally, regionally and internationally. It is hoped that RAC2 will provide opportunities for agrobiodiversity experts in the region to highlight and assess the role of agrobiodiversity and identify sustainable means of utilising the region’s vast agrobiodiversity to its fullest potential. This hopefully will finally strengthen the acknowledgment given to agrobiodiversity conservation and sustainable utilisation as the region main tools to face those challenges. With the momentum which was set by the previous 1st Regional Conference on Agrobiodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Utilization (RAC1), it is timely to organise 2nd Regional Conference on Agrobiodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Utilization (RAC2).
